Forum: GratefulDead Subject: where's the killer auds?

HI GD Fans,

I just got onto archive.org...long time comin. Anyway, I've been going through some of the sources and of course, GDP has nixed the soundboard stuff. However, I remember alot of aud's from the DAT days of the 90's that were killer. I don't see alot of them here; hopefully, I will go through my CDR collection I spun over 10 years ago from my DATs to get these up. I don't have all my stuff as I'm going through a divorce settlement and the ex wife has kept some of GD CDR, and all of my non GD, and my commericial legit collection. Hopefully, I'll get it back, and all my DAT masters and cassette masters; it's very possible she may have destroyed it. Anyway, I just figured out how to download the stuff to CDR audio, so now I'll have to figure out how to upload it. I mean I had some killer stuff and knew many of the major tapers back in the day, but fell out of touch during my marriage. Some of the aud's I actually prefer to soundboards...

Here is a fun aud to get you started on your search for the killer aud. This is one of my favorites. You are able to hear that audience explode as the Dark Star crashed in the Hampton.

Welcome aboard!

I can't help you with your upload questions but if you are looking for auds here you can click the link to downloadable shows:

http://www.archive.org/search.php?query=collection%3AGratefulDead%20-%2Fmetadata%2Fstream_only%3A%281%29

you could then sort by date if you are interested in specific shows.

alternatively do searches on the taper's names (e.g. Wise, Glassberg, Oade) and then look for transfers by Charlie Miller or motb. You could search motb as almost all of their work is with auds and they do some great stuff. A search on Charlie will also point you to some great boards.

Have fun.
